Day 1: My First Haiku!

Finally posting my first poem! Not only is this my first piece for my poetry challenge, it’s the first time I’ve posted an original work on my blog. Today’s prompt:

  1. Your biggest dream

As I mentioned in my first post this month, I’m going to be altering these prompts as I see fit. They’re a list of journal prompts, and I’m going to make them a bit more on the poetic side. This was pretty straightforward though.

I wanted something reminiscent of an anxiety-free environment. Haikus are known for being about nature and leaving the reader with some form of enlightenment while adhering to the 5-7-5 syllable count. They’re often parts of larger works.

Mine probably doesn’t have much enlightenment in it, but it was a nice little writing exercise!
